Welcome to my blog and thanks for taking the time to learn about my story. I thought long and hard about creating this blog and sharing my adventure. I’ve been thinkin a lot lately about the quote from Mark Twain. Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.”
I don’t think I was born to sell cars and be in the car business for almost 40 years. I don’t think it was to create and sell web design or digital business cards. Sure, you can impact lives to some extent in any business. But at the end of the day, and let’s be honest here, it’s all about you. It’s all about me. It’s not, “How many lives can I impact here?” It’s, “How much money can I make here?”
I’m gonna call a spade a spade: It’s selfishness. Now, I’ve been told, “I’m the most selfish man on the planet.” I’ll admit, I’m pretty damn selfish, but I don’t think I made the top 10 list of most selfish people on the planet.
So, I’ve been asking myself of late: “Why am I here? What’s my purpose?” To tell you the truth, it’s been unsettling. So, here’s what I did…
I put a biblical principle to work. In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, “Ask, and you shall receive.” So, I started asking. I didn’t really hear anything back right away. But by process of elimination, it finally hit me. Like a ton of bricks. What if my purpose in life, the reason I was born, what if that reason was to save one, at least one, person’s salvation? I mean, what if? In my opinion that carries more weight than pretty much anything when you think about it.
Now here’s the tough part about this…I’m definitely not the evangelist type. if someone would have told me that one day I’d be spreading the gospel I’d probably say they were on drugs. lol
who me? no effin way! which is another reason this is going to be challenging. but, here’s the deal: I do have a story to tell. a compelling story at that. here’s the readers digest unabridged version: a Jewish, agnostic, atheistic, non belevin, almost hatin, there ain’t no way, god does exist, this all happened by accident, man finds god and accepts jesus christ as his loard and savior. wow! just writing that is bone-chilling to me.
So, what happened? how did I go from being the biggest nonbeliever on the face of the earth to accepting Jesus as my lord and Savior? in lee stroble’s book, “A case for faith” (yeah I hitched the name of that book for this blog) lee paints a picture of the chances that we’re just an accident like I thought. like, what would the probiltiy be for all this to be just an accident. like we all just evolved from nothingness. his analogy is very poingent and packs a huge punch.
lee says in the book (and I’m going off memory), “the chances of all this being an accident would be similar to a tornado blowing though a junk yard and fully assembling a running automobile.” What are the chances, right? about the same as life being an accident. there had to be a designer. an intelligent designer at that. one that decided to show up in my life when I least expected it and now look at me. lol
So, here goes. I’m going to take you through my journey of how I was so convinced that there wasn’t a God and there wasn’t a Resurrection to, in my opinion, the miracle of finding salvation through placing my faith in Jesus Christ.
This is pretty compelling. i’m looking forward to hearing your story
Excellent! Stay tuned.
I know you quite well and can 5ell when you have a passion for something. You no way would have put all of this work and 5houfhtvinto this blog if it were not truly from your heart. I love this and really are looking forward to more, more, and more. Discipleship is hard for EVERYONE because we don’t want to feel like a failure. But remember one thing, God’s word never returns void.
Thanks for your comment my friend. Yes, I’m looking forward to writing it. You’ll actually learn things about me you didn’t know. LOL
Scott excellent writing I am intrigued to what is next.
Thanks for the kind words my brother. It’s a wild ride no doubt. Stay tuned.
