As I was scanning my way around the huge fire my eyes got fixated on the interior of the fire. It was like I entered the Matrix. Everybody was cutting up, laughing, giggling, and I was in this slow-motion state locked and loaded on the fire. While I was captivated by the flames I hear that voice again, “This is a night you’ll never forget.”

hat decision haunted me for years. In my mind, it was the biggest mistake I’d ever made. If I could have a “Do Over” I would have gone back.
My Senior Year In High School
When I skipped class, I’d get in my car and just start driving. I would fire up a joint and I’d drive to Detroit. I’d go to Port Heron. I’d go to Ann Arbor. I’d go to Bay City and Saginaw. I’d go to Lansing and anywhere in between. Each day was a different adventure of skipping class, smoking a joint, Jamin to the Pioneer Super Tuner I had in my car, and visiting a new port.
Ferris State College
As I looked at the sidewalk 10 stories down I had this fleeting thought to jump out the window and end this horrible trip I was on. That seemed like my only option at the time.

Good thing there were no cars next to me because as soon as I had that fleeting thought I’m all over the road hanging on for dear life. I looked in my rearview mirror and the back trailer (a gravel train has two trailers) was sideways on the road. I could read the company name “Tri City” as clear as day. I’m like, “Here we go. I’m gonna flip!”

We got about halfway down the hill and out of nowhere I felt the back end of the car lose traction with the road. Good thing there were no other cars close to us at this point as we start spinning clockwise on I-75 at about 45 MPH.
The Truckin Years
The next five years were to become the best five years of my life. I had a great paying job. I had a long-term career path. I was making excellent money. I loved my job. I was on cloud nine in that I really had it all in my early 20s. But the one thing I didn’t have was God.
